Blessed Hour of Prayer

1.
Tis the blessed hour of pray’r,
when our hearts lowly bend,
and we gather in silence our pray’r time to spend,
if we come with contrite heart God’s protection to share,
– What a balm for the weary!

Omkvæd:

O how sweet to be there! Blessed hour of pray’r, blessed hour of pray’r,
what a balm for the weary! Oh how sweet to be there!

2.
Tis the blessed hour of pray’r
In communion with saints,
Of the earth realm, ethera or heavenly saints,
With a sympathizing heart friendly confidence share, –
What a balm for the weary! O how sweet to be there!

3.
Tis the blessed hour of pray’r,
When our saviors draw near,
Followed by the great sages of heavenly sphere,
When we hear them tell us
„To the winds cast all your care,“ –
What a balm for the weary! O how sweet to be there!

4.
Tis the blessed hour of pray’r,
When the tempted and tried
All their sorrows and heartaches to loved ones confide,
And we join with friendly hosts
concentration to share, –
What a balm for the weary! O how sweet to be there!

5.
Tis the blessed hour of pray’r,
When our faith we may prove,
All thru good thought, good word, and good deed show true love,
In the full-ness of this trust
We shall lose ev’ry care, –
What a balm for the weary! O how sweet to be there!

Chorus:
Blessed hour of pray’r, Blessed hour of pray’r,
What a balm for the weary! O how sweet to be there!
